A life of challenges and gratitude
Life is like a roller coaster ride, ups, downs, twists, and turns bringing each of us our own challenges and lessons to be learned that helped to shape us into the people we are at this moment. Reflecting, I realize that they were gifts, that with each bump to mountain sized obstacles that I faced there was always another path being offered that led to where I am today. I have always had a passion for helping others and knew at the age of 14 that I wanted to be a nurse. It took me a while, but I eventually reached that goal. I served as a nurse for over 30 years as a civilian and miliary nurse/medic for 21 years. Over time I saw the changes in our healthcare system and sought to find a more holistic approach. In 2015, I was introduced to Dr. Jennifer Williams, who took me under her wings and presented the world of Chinese Medicine to which I can say I fell in love with. I can never thank her enough for everything she has shared and taught me. With her encouragement and guidance, I finally made the leap upon retiring from the military 2017 and entered a 4-year program in the study of Chinese Medicine Arts at the tender age of 55. I successfully completed my dual Masters/Doctorate Program and passed my national boards. I feel nothing but gratitude for this journey, as it is an honor and a privilege to serve my community integrating my western knowledge and experience with eastern medicine.
